These are some kind words from people I have had the privilege to work with. I include them here to give a flavor of the kind of work I do.
Elizabeth Chitty understands the human body as a sensational source and resource for health, wellness, creativity and art making. Each individual Elizabeth encounters benefits from her unwavering commitment to clear and compassionate communication. She facilitates transformative movement experiences that open access to creative potentials physically, emotionally and socioculturally. Her nurturing energy is a catalyst for dynamic change and supports moving through-towards health and healing.
But do not mistake her gentle approach with a lack of fierceness, she is mighty in her passionate determination to defend the rights of human bodies to live with dignity and respect for their existence. In her private practice as a movement and trauma therapist, as well as in her movement practices as a dance artist, Elizabeth cares deeply about and for the living experiences of all human bodies. She integrates her knowledge of the body's complex internal workings with her endless curiosities about how movement materializes as a messenger through our body as we interface with the external world.
I want to THANK YOU for the grace, space and opportunity that you have brought into my life. When my soul was whispering for a change, but my mind was telling me what a stupid thought that was, you provided me with opportunity to experience a new place, a new language and a new exhilarated feeling of teaching and sharing not only movement, but LOVE.
Then as I transitioned, you have held space for me to be curious, to be vulnerable, to cry, to feel alive and to experience the beauty of LIFE. You have shown me what it looks like, when the heart moves the body. You have shown me what courage looks like, and to create something not just because the world needs it, but because you need it. You have shown me what inspired action looks like, what showing up means, and what complete surrender is.
You allow people to BE. To meet all of themselves with compassion and peace. No judgement, no right or wrong or bad or good, just whatever it is, it is.
You give people permission to show up, be present, work through things, be messy, be happy, be silly, be FREE. You provide space for people to be in the present moment. You provide space for people to be completely honest with themselves and to move through the totality of who they are....and to be ok with every aspect of it (even if for the moment, it doesn't feel so good). You give permission to be HUMAN. To BE in this body. You integrate fully the mind, body and spirit.
You support people. You hold space for people, for whatever someone needs. Space, clarity, movement, energetic work, celebration, joy, support, a listening ear. I just keep coming back to this- that you give people permission to be OK. It's all ok. You provide space and tools for people to intergrate back to their complete self. To FEEL, truly feel, on a deep level.
Over the past few months I received the ten structural integration sessions with Elizabeth. It doesn't take much longer than the first ten minutes of working with her to know that she is wise beyond her years.
After a brief discussion of how my body was feeling and any areas of interest, we would do some movement assessments to check for any issues that I might be unaware of.
No matter what part of the ten series we were on, Elizabeth was wonderful at incorporating my own personal issue areas into the other work that was required in that session. She is incredibly adept at understanding the cause of my symptoms and using the precise techniques, pressure, and duration to remedy them.
In the end, it was all for something. After some sessions, pain from injuries I've sustained over the years would be alleviated immediately. After other sessions I would feel my musculoskeletal system "moving" and adjusting over the course of a few days. The location and pain from injuries would move and lighten.
Although I received the ten series with Elizabeth, she also incorporated her knowledge and expertise in craniosacral therapy into all of our sessions - making each visit holistic. This combination worked wonders and even let me access new ranges of motion in my shoulders. I can now get deeper into an overhead shoulder stretch without pain - something that I've never been able to do.
The greatest part about working with Elizabeth was the education. She has a wide and deep knowledge of the human body and how it works and is articulate in her explanations during the sessions. I would find myself thinking about things she taught me as I went through the week and continued my strength training.
After working with her I feel I understand my body better and have more insights on my injuries and how they were caused. For this reason and the reasons above I can't recommend working with her enough. I've recommended her to all my friends and family and I will continue to work with her in the future.
Elizabeth Chitty is one of the most present, intuitive, and knowledgeable practitioners that I've ever worked with. I've seen her for several BCST sessions, and each time I leave with a new understanding of my physical and energetic body. During each session, Elizabeth always holds a neutral presence - she acts as a witness to my process. She deeply listens, gives me space, and asks all the right questions. Her presence and knowledge allows my system the chance to be heard, and because of this I am able to fully settle into my own unique pace and path towards healing.
